Kauai Coffee Recipe

Kauai coffeeHave you ever asked yourself can food make me happy? Hmmm… I suppose combining two of our favorite things, coffee, and chocolate into a bite-size brownie could possibly do just that and put a huge smile on your face! Can you imagine the flavorful aroma coming from your oven, slowly filling up your kitchen of sweet, nutty caramel, tropical coconut, medium-roasted ground beans, and delicious chocolate? You may just feel like booking yourself a one-way ticket to Kaua’i!

This popular coffee blend is made from 100% premium ground Hawaiian coffee with all-natural flavoring! From growing the coffee to roasting and packaging, our friends and neighbors at Kaua’i Coffee Company employ sustainable, environmentally sound practices throughout every step of the process. Did you know that Kauai Coffee Company is Hawaii’s largest coffee grower and the largest coffee grower in the U.S.?  They have just about 4 million coffee trees grown on 3,100 acres – a true Hawaiian coffee estate!

Be sure to visit our friends at Kaua’i Coffee Company before or after your Holo Holo Charter’s boat tour! They are located close by our Port Allen office, so if the winds are blowing in the right direction you may just be able to smell the aroma of freshly roasting coffee when you check in with us!

2/3 cup butter
1/4 cup water or coffee
1 (12oz semi-sweet chocolate chips)
2 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs, beaten
1½ cup All-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Optional: 1 cup Macadamia nuts (chopped) Yummy!
Substitute: 1/2 cup oil instead of butter
1/4 cup of flavored Kauai Coffee Coconut Caramel Crunch (instead of water)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and lightly flour a 10×15 inch baking pan. In a large saucepan combine sugar, butter, and water, heating until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted. Add chocolate chips and cook until melted. Stir in vanilla and set aside to cool. Add eggs to cooled mixture and mix well. Add flour, baking soda, and salt, blending thoroughly. At this point, you may add 1 cup of chopped nuts or 1 cup of chocolate chips, or 1 cup of whatever you like. Pour into the baking pan and bake for 40 minutes. Cool, slice, and eat!

Kauai Coffee Brownie RecipeNote: You may tweak it however you’d like and make it your own. Tutu personally likes the flavor of coconut and chocolate in her brownies by substituting butter with coconut oil.

EASY RECIPE (created for the busy baker)
1 box of your favorite brownie mix (We love the Ghirardelli brand)
Follow directions and substitute the water to the same amount of flavored Kauai coffee. You may also substitute vegetable oil to coconut oil for a more coconut taste. Bake as directed, cool, cut, and enjoy!
